The law firm Allen & Overy opened the Madrid office in 1991. Over the last 25 years, the firm has become one of Spain’s leading legal practices.
In 2017, the Madrid headquarter was moved from Pedro de Valdivia 10 to Serrano 73. For that reason, the law firm required to appoint a general contractor for the construction services for their new office complete fit out and furnishing. As general contractor Empty was responsible for coordinating the list of subcontractors selected by A&O and improving the proposed program of uses.
The project consisted of fit out of approximately 5,000 sqm of office space. The works affected the following levels: Sub-basement, connected with the ground and mezzanine floors by a new bespoke spiral steel staircase, this level will house a new auditorium. Ground floor, where is located the main entrance to the building, housing the reception, snack and dining areas and back of house rooms. Mezzanine, connected to the ground floor via the spiral steel staircase to host the firm´s library. First to fifth floors, with the same layout, each of them housing 13 offices, one meeting room, open space, coffee room, copy room, IT room and washrooms. Sixth floor, destined to accommodate spaces for the clients, housing 7 meeting rooms with different capacity ranging between 10 people for the smaller rooms to 32 people in the main meeting room. This floor also equipped with a lounge and topped with a skylight in the center of the floor plan.
