The Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo has decided to make its debut in Spain by opening a flagship store in Barcelona, on the bustling Passeig de Gràcia. Located in a historic four-storey building (1,730 sqm), the shop will carry the iconic products of this brand, which strives to combine elegance and functionality in its garments and is known for constant innovation in fabrics.
Empty was hired to develop and execute the project for this new establishment, which maintained some of the building’s original features, such as the coffered ceilings on the first floor, the courtyard and a marble staircase with its elaborate balustrade.
While showing respect for the past, the shop will also feature an ultra-modern room done entirely in stainless steel, home of the future T-shirt Corner, where shoppers will be able to customise their t-shirts.
