In July 2011 Empty accepted the commission to adapt the preliminary design of the museum in line with a new context determined by the extension of the east stands of the Khalifa Stadium. Following completion of that project, in mid-2012 we received a new commission to adapt the design to accommodate the installations in the office and museum areas that were not included in the scope of the first commission, and to create the complete design for the iconic building that provides access to the museum which, along with the stadium, became a landmark of the complex. The exhibition design revolves around the light and sound that dictate the changing pace of the display, in keeping with the different themes and areas.
Lastly, in 2018, on completion of these design and development phases of the project, Qatar Museum commissioned Empty to provide museum consultancy services and supervise the construction works.
